Looking Up – Walking Alongside Women
Dear Hope Church Family,
There are numerous examples of women who cared for others in the Bible. Ruth was committed to Naomi, Mary and Elizabeth shared in miraculous births, Mary of Bethany and Mary Magdalene cared for Jesus, and Phoebe and Priscilla assisted Paul. Proverbs 31 offers many qualities and characteristics of a godly woman including: devotion and faithfulness to the Lord, spiritual strength as a servant-leader, and compassion for those in need. She is blessed by being a blessing and intentionally seeks to help others. We are encouraged by these examples and seek to follow in their steps here at Hope.
The Women’s Care Team is a group of women who are ready to walk alongside and provide support as you go through a difficult season. In partnership with the Deacons, we help in a variety of ways: organizing meals or childcare, sending encouraging cards, texts, and emails, praying with women, and performing other creative tasks in unique situations. Our heart is to show up for women when they need us.
In October 2023, I had emergency brain surgery. An avid walker, my surgeon allowed me to resume light exercise if I promised to take a buddy with me during the early stages of my recovery. Neighbors, co-workers, and friends had generously covered our meals, so Women’s Care Team members literally donned sneakers and walked with me until I was released to go alone. They even grabbed a leash so that my dog could join us! It was a beautiful time with my sisters in Christ. As a relatively new member of the Women’s Care Team, I immediately saw its value as I received heartwarming encouragement and targeted prayers for healing.
If you’re interested in joining the Women’s Care Team, please contact Tori Petty or Deanne Trollinger. We’d love to have YOU!
