Looking Up – How Do I Love My Neighbor?

  -

Dear Hope Church,

Months ago, when members of our congregation were invited to share their thoughts about Hope with Ministry Architects, it became evident that many of us desire to obey God’s call to help the poor, clothe the naked, and feed the hungry in tactile ways, but we don’t know how. Where can I go to assist my neighbors in poverty? How do I put food in the hands of someone who cannot afford to buy groceries? How do I make sure that the decent sneakers my daughter outgrew can be placed on the feet of a child whose mother can’t afford a new pair?

Since ancient times, God’s church has been the hub of loving and kindhearted service to the poor, the broken, the addicted, the widow, the orphan, the disenfranchised, the homeless, the abused, and others with burdens I have not listed. There is no bottom to the need, and the call we feel to step forward and meet it is a sign that our hearts are pulling toward Jesus, praise God.

In God’s kindness and good timing, a small, new team at Hope is in the early forming stages, but the dreams of what it could become are big and far-reaching. We are praying and talking about how we, as a church, can extend ourselves to offer our time, our abilities, and our love to neighbors in need.

Will you please take this survey (found in Looking Up or by emailing Sarah) to give us a sense of what good work is already happening among us? The survey will take less than 2 minutes.
