What are Life Groups?
At the heart of our mission as a church is the invitation to experience the true hope for real life through the good news of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. While we have several main avenues to experience that true hope for real life, our Life Groups hold a unique and crucial place in our ministry. Life Groups are the front-lines for pastoral care, knowing and being known, and encouragement in the Christian life.
Life Groups are designed to create a space and time for each person in our church to:
Belong
Connection, relationship, and welcome.
Believe
Growth in grace, learning how to pray, and engaging God’s Word.
Become
Encouragement to live out and embody the Kingdom of God in ordinary life and relationships.
Sunday School
For those who are currently or anticipate they will in the future be caring for aging parents. Those who have walked the road are welcome to join to share what God taught you along the way as well. The book by Kathleen Nielson will be available in the church office January 5th (Lord willing!) if you would like to read ahead. We will cover two chapters each week. We will do a brief review so please come even if you do not get to read!
Come learn more about what we believe (systematic theology) through the works of Calvin’s Institutes. No prior knowledge required!
Men's Cohorts
All men are welcome to join a weekly cohort, where we will spend part of the time connecting and part of the time studying the Bible. Multiple days and times are available, and no prior Bible knowledge is required. We meet during the school year with a break starting at Christmas. Please let us know when you can meet, and we’ll do our best to get you in a group.
Women's Bible Study
With a goal towards embodying the “true hope for real life” vision of Hope Church, we long for WBS to be a place where women experience the embrace of the Father through informed, clear, and Christ-centered teaching and through sincere, intentional fellowship. We seek to equip women by teaching the fundamentals of the Christian faith, by training women to study Scripture, and by creating a space where each woman feels known and cared for. To live out this vision, we are committed to Biblical expository teaching. To live out this vision, we are committed to providing a setting where women can form authentic relationships and know each others’ stories in a loving, supportive, and prayer centered environment.
The Format of Women's Bible Study
We meet on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 (with childcare) and on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 (without childcare). We devote our time to four activities following a brief time of socializing at the beginning. Because Tuesday Evening is shorter, they do not sing.
Small Group Discussion
Your small group will use a discussion guide to explore the passage together.
Teaching
Each week, a member of our teaching team explains the passage we are studying.
Worship
We start and end each week with worship.
Sharing and Prayer
You'll have a chance to share how God is speaking to you and to pray for each other.
