Dear Hope Family,
We want to introduce you to the most recent member of our staff to come (back) on board. Sarah has been serving as our Interim Office Assistant since August and has now accepted a permanent position as our Communications & Ministry Systems Specialist. If you don’t know Sarah, hopefully this bio will encourage you to get to know her better!
Name: Sarah Beam
Family: Nathan and I celebrate our 16th anniversary in a few weeks. We have three children: Izzy (11), Ellie (9), and Luther (8 on Monday).
Accepted Christ: I grew up in the faith. One of my earliest memories is my grandmother praying a prayer of faith with me when I was five years old.
Church Membership: We’ve been at Hope for 12 years.
Briefly describe how you’ve seen God’s work in your life. There are so many ways that I can look back on my life and see God’s hand at work in ways that wouldn’t come to fruition until years later. We spent a few very dark and lonely years in WV and faced many disappointments during that time. It often felt like God was absent. Yet out of those dark years came one of my closest friendships as well as teachings that took root and have shaped us in fundamental ways. When we found out that Luther wasn’t growing well in utero and was unlikely to survive, I felt utterly helpless and grief stricken. Yet God’s presence was palpable and his assurance that He loves Luther more perfectly than we do carried us through. Now Luther is a happy and healthy boy about to celebrate his eighth birthday. While I don’t expect all of our prayers to be answered so happily, I know that even in the dark times when we don’t feel his presence, He is with us and He loves us.
How do you Rest or Play? Perfect rest for me is a comfortable chair with a nice view or by the fire and a good book (fantasy or mystery). I also enjoy puzzles but I can’t stop once I’ve started, so I reserve those for when I have a few days with no commitments. I love to walk with friends, play games with my kids or friends, go on dinner dates with Nathan, and travel. I can often be found woodworking or in the middle of one (or three) DIY projects around the house.
Blessings,
