Dear Hope Family,
Whether you are exhausted or strangely exhilarated by the past years of life together as a church, the one thing you cannot say is that it has been uninteresting! A once-in-a-generation (hopefully!) pandemic, masking “discussions”, political debates, outdoor worship services, the creation of a livestream, marked growth in the size and demographics of our congregation, and new rhythms for worship and life together – none of it can be accused of being yawn-inducingly boring. It’s been a wild ride.
Now, as we more firmly get our legs underneath us as a church and as we look towards the quickly approaching fall season of ministry and life together, the Session and I sense the challenge and opportunity to talk more candidly and hopefully about our vision for being a worshiping community and pursuing discipleship together.
Since we have not had a chance to be together (all of us) in a single worship service since March 2020, since we have not had a chance to share a meal together since the Congregational Meeting in January 2020, and since we have not had a chance to lay out our hopes and plans for worship and discipleship, we want to gather everyone together on August 28th for all of those things!
On Sunday morning, August 28th, we will gather for one worship service, and it will be outdoors at 10:45am. We will follow our worship with a church-wide lunch and time for the Session to communicate our renewed vision and mission for worship and discipleship and to issue an invitation for each of us to step onto that path together this fall.
We are not exactly sure what it will look like, but I can assure you it will not be uninteresting. So please make sure to be a part of the congregation on the 28th!
Grace and peace,
