Where have you seen the Lord at work in your life?
God has been calling me to rest in his love all my life — from faithful and loving parents who raised me in the Word, to a faithful Young Life leader in high school, to faithful friends and profound mentors in college, to an unexpected call to medicine as a career. He graciously called me to a wonderful marriage and to the joys of fatherhood. To look back is to see his faithfulness, his power and his wisdom overcoming my doubt, my weakness and my foolishness — again and again! Like the writer Anne Lamott, I also believe the “two best prayers I know are ‘Help me, help me, help me’ and ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you.'”

How do you rest?
Resting for me is reading, word games, enjoying food and drink with friends and family, or taking in live performances. The most restful thing of all is just sitting on the beach for hours! I love to play music as well, especially with other people, and one day would love to figure out how to write some songs. I especially enjoy being out in God’s creation — hiking, skiing, golfing or just enjoying the view!
