Dear Hope Family,
I am eagerly looking forward to our celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday, and with our focus upon Saul’s encounter with the Risen Lord Jesus on his way to Damascus, we will be putting our study of the Book of Acts on hold for the balance of the spring and summer months. Along the way we have witnessed the compassionate, determined, zealous heart of God for his people as well as his gracious invitation to join him in his redeeming work in this world. I hope that you have been renewed in your experience of the welcome of the Gospel and the honor of extending that same welcome to others.
Looking ahead, John Bourgeois, the RUF Campus Minister at Wake Forest, will be preaching on April 28th, and I am so excited to have John join us. He is a superb preacher. You do not want to miss the chance to hear from John.
I am also very excited about our upcoming sermon series for May and the rest of the summer months:
- During the month of May we will be preaching a series of sermons that will reconnect us with our vision and mission as Hope Church: receiving and thriving in the embrace of the Father, being equipped as disciples of the Son, and engaging the world by the power of the Holy Spirit. As we grow and change as a church it is always fruitful to return to and reconsider who God is calling us to be and what God is calling us to do in this little corner of the world.
- For the months of June, July, and August, we are going to enjoy a survey of the Psalms and Proverbs. The Psalms will teach us how to pray our various experiences in this world: fear, disappointment, helplessness, joy, guilt, and the like, and Proverbs will equip us to live with wisdom and courage in the world that produces such experiences and emotions.
As always, our earnest desire and enduring prayer are that each sermon, each encounter with the Word of God written will enable us to own our deep need of the Gospel, to draw from the rich supply of God’s grace, and to respond as those who profess and depend upon the finished work of Jesus – the Risen, Redeeming King!
Grace and peace,
