Dear Hope Fam,
One of the many privileges I have at Hope is serving with the Missions Team. For those who don’t know, our Missions Team maintains a relationship with over 30 local, national, and global missionary partners. We communicate with them and pray; we take them out for lunch when they’re in town and try to get them in front of the congregation as much as possible; and we manage the missions budget, which is just shy of $100,000 each year.
I want to quickly highlight two ways your financial giving has enabled our Missions Team to fill in some of the gaps faced by those on the front lines of mission work.
1. Many of you were able to meet Roy & Rebeca Clifford and their children, as they worshiped with us outdoors for a full year. The Cliffords are Young Life workers in the Dominican Republic. Last year the Cliffords came to the States so that Rebeca could complete her American citizenship process. However, due to some snags in the system, her citizenship was delayed and they had to stay in Winston, which meant their expenses were much higher than expected. But because of the generosity of Hope Church, we were able to send them an extra $3000 to cover their shortfall.
2. Following the removal of US troops from Afghanistan, an estimated 70,000 Afghans will seek resettlement in the United States. One of the organizations we love to partner with is World Relief, which helps local churches serve refugee families. While we plan to partner with World Relief in more hands-on ways in the future, this year we were able to send them a financial contribution of $2000 to assist in the Afghan resettlement program.
So thank you for your generosity. Your financial giving goes a long way to provide support for church planters and international school administrators, pregnancy clinics and sex trafficking rescue workers, college ministers and educators of missionary kids, medical clinics and single moms.
See you Sunday!
