Dear Hope Family,
As we anticipate another blast of winter weather this weekend, I want to remind you all of our general approach to church activities and inclement weather. We are committed to having a corporate worship service every Lord’s Day, as long as it is wise and safe to move forward with the service for leaders and participants alike. On some occasions we must adjust our normal Sunday morning schedule, and it is our protocol to first cancel Sunday School if roads are bad, and then we consider the viability of the worship service. We try to let folks know in advance so that volunteers and leaders can plan accordingly, and we use social media, the Hope website, an email blast announcement, and local TV networks to relay our decisions. We also encourage our staff to communicate with folks under their oversight directly to help get the word out if it is necessary to make some adjustment to our set schedule. For this coming Sunday, it looks like we should dodge the bullet that will hit other regions, but if there needs to be some adjustment, we will let you know early Sunday morning at the latest.
I also want to let you know that Abigail Johnston has completed her time as our Interim Worship Coordinator at Hope. We owe Abigail a thousand thanks for stepping in this summer during Julie Money’s leave and for her faithful, generous giving of her time and creativity to lead us through the demanding Advent season and the oversight of the worship ministry here at Hope. I personally have savored all the time working alongside of Abigail, and it is with much respect and gratefulness that I ask you to join me in honoring Abigail for her work among us.
Please do join in prayer for God’s provision of a new, more permanent Director of Worship at Hope. We have put together an initial job description and are actively searching for someone to lead us in this crucial aspect of our church’s life and ministry together. I am genuinely excited about God’s provision and kindness to us in all of this!
I am including a letter from Abigail that gives, in her own words, a little more perspective on her time with us and her next steps:
What an honor and privilege it has been for me to be apart of this church over the past 7 months! I have felt welcomed and loved in my time here.
My role as the interim Worship Coordinator is coming to a close. I have learned so much and count it all joy even through the challenges. Each person on staff has been instrumental to helping me see this season through successfully! I cannot tell you all how warm, sincere, patient, and kind everyone has been to me. These attributes do not go unnoticed. I pray that you all continue to flourish as a team and family.
In this next season I will be focusing on raising my daughter and being present for my family as well as continuing in my commitments that I had before joining the staff here at Hope. Through January I will stay on in a contract position to help with scheduling and planning center support for the worship leaders. I am praying that God will bring you quickly the best full time Worship Coordinator/ director! I know that person is out there and that there is a beautiful plan for this place that again, I am so thankful to have been a part of serving.
