Dearest Hope Family,
Face to Face with Jesus
This Sunday we square up with a truly unique account in the Gospels. Jesus invites an eager young man with a track record of winning and rewards to follow him. Instead of humble, joyous “following”, the young man walks away with a heavy sadness. Every other invitation from Jesus has been accepted. Every other person invited has walked towards – not away – from Jesus.
The disciples looking at this eminently well qualified candidate for discipleship are astonished as he walks away sad. They are left to ask, “Who, then, can be saved?”
What depth-charge, utterly fundamental questions we have to engage this Sunday!:
“Why do some folks walk away from Jesus in sorrow?”
“Who, then, can be saved?”
We are excited to try out the new schedule for Sunday morning and appreciate your participation and patience.
Indoor and Livestreamed Morning Worship – 9:30 am in the Worship Hall
- Our anchor corporate worship service – only the time is scooted up an hour. The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated.
Doughnuts, Cocoa, and Coffee – 10:45 am at the Connections Table
- A new time of fellowship outside between the two services. Dough Joes doughnuts, hot cocoa, and coffee! We hope this enables some time to greet one another and enjoy each other’s company a bit.
Outdoor Worship – 11:15 am on the Church Lawn
- Our “Vespers” service moved to a new time. The liturgy and content of the service will match that of the indoor service, yet we are aiming to streamline the service to keep it closer to 45 minutes. The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated.
It will be an adventure!
Grace and peace,
