Charles grew up in the Washington, DC area, and made a personal confession and commitment to Jesus Christ at the age of 12.
He met his wonderful wife Mary, on a blind date in 1968. They were married three years later, while he was a Technical Instructor in the U.S. Air Force, and they moved to Winston-Salem in 1979. Charles & Mary have been at Hope since 2015 and have both worked with our Speas Elementary Backpack Program for a number of years. Charles was ordained as a deacon in 2019, and appreciates the opportunity to serve others.
The Lord blessed Charles & Mary with three great children and three wonderful grandchildren. Their son Robert, passed away several years ago at the age of 45; Jennifer, is an elementary school teacher in Randolph County; and Sarah, has a hair salon in BluRose Studios at Whitaker Square.
