Melissa joined the Hope staff in January 2024. She most recently worked at Novant Health as a Guest and Volunteer Services manager. Although born and raised in Lancaster County, PA, Winston-Salem has been her home since marrying husband Dewey in 1994. They have two young adult children, Robert (married to Stephanie) and Lydia. Melissa has a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in School Administration. Prior to working at Novant Health, she was an elementary school teacher and principal.

Melissa is an active member of Fraternity Church of the Brethren where she serves as both the Minister of Music and Children’s Director. She enjoys making prayer quilts with several women at her church and is now teaching herself to knit. Her two cats have a particular fondness for the balls of yarn.

Melissa keeps the Sabbath on Sundays.
